Carina

Hi, I'm Carina.

Founder & CEO, Ops By Carina

I started my professional career in the meetings & events industry like many others, beginning in hotels and resorts, where I worked my way up through food and beverage and banquets before moving into sales and event management. My time in F&B roles allowed me to learn the business from the ground up, and I gained so much respect for the people delivering the front end of the event experience. From there I moved into the corporate world, eventually landing in a business operations role at a product management and product marketing educational company built around being market-driven and creating products that solve problems for people around the world.

During my time there I worked in leadership, built out processes, systems, software, and various teams, continued to lead event strategy, and learned about business as a whole. I saw over and over that a company cannot scale without the proper infrastructure in place.

Again and again, owners of meetings & events businesses told me the same thing: they started their own business, but now they have even less time and more work. I knew it didn't have to be that way. I also watched our product training help hundreds of companies, and I wanted to bring that same thinking into the meetings and events world from an operational standpoint. I'm not here to give events advice. These business owners are the experts on that. What I can speak to is the operations behind the business.

My path combines psychology, meetings & events, and business and operations methodology, and it taught me something I still believe: the meetings and events industry remains special because it's built entirely around human connection. That's something no system or piece of technology can replace. My goal is to help events business owners build the operations that let them scale, so they can stay focused on what actually matters instead of running the day-to-day themselves. I believe events change people's lives every day, and it's my passion to help the businesses behind that work.

A little more about me: I grew up in Kodiak, Alaska, a small fishing town, but even as a kid I was eager to see more of the world. I planned my first event at six years old, my parents' wedding, and I've been fascinated by how things fit together ever since. That curiosity followed me into college, where I studied Psychology and found myself especially drawn to Organizational Psychology, learning how human behavior, social structures, and mental processes shape the workplace.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me hiking around Colorado Springs with my two golden retrievers and my baby, or curled up at home with a book.

I'm so excited to learn about your events business and see how we can work together.

Get in Touch

I still remember the first business owner I sat down with.

I was in awe of what she'd built. But the more we talked, the more I realized the business ran entirely through her. She'd built something beautiful, but there was no infrastructure in place that would let her step away, not even for a day. She was burned out, and she didn't know how to fix it without everything slowing down.

That conversation stayed with me. It's a big part of why I do this work now: building the operations that let an owner step back without the business falling apart.

Strong operations are what let an owner step back.

Most events businesses run on the owner's effort and memory. That works until the business starts growing.

Operations first

If a process only works because you remember how it goes, it isn't a process yet. I help get it written down so someone else can run it.

Built for growth

What works for one event should work for ten. I build processes for the business you're growing into, not just the next deadline.

Protect the team

No part of the business should depend on one person's memory or willingness to burn out. Good systems protect the team, too.
